FAQ · OBS
OBS can do an enormous amount: multiple sources, scenes, streaming to Twitch or YouTube, production-quality recording. That's exactly what it's built for - and exactly why it's the wrong amount of effort for a single meeting. Nobody builds a scene collection just to sound better on a video call.
Streaming, serious productions, mixing several sources at once - that's still OBS's job, and Patchcord doesn't change that.
Everything else: home-office meetings, calls at the office, even a WhatsApp video call with your parents. Set it up once - pick a microphone and a plugin - and it works everywhere, no scenes, no streaming software, no per-app setup. A clean, easy upgrade for everyday calls. And the difference isn't just for you to notice: better sound quality is something the person on the other end picks up on.
If you also stream with OBS, you can still use the processed Patchcord signal there: “Patchcord Mic” is a regular virtual microphone at the operating-system level and shows up in OBS as an audio source. Add a new source (Audio Input Capture), select Patchcord Mic as the device, done. TODO: add an actual OBS screenshot, currently untested in the project's checklist.
